The traditional manual hot melt cutting method is very popular for cutting plush materials due to its many advantages such as hot sealing cutting mode, low cost, and high production.
But the manual workers need to bare holding several kilos of iron templates and standing all day. And the ventilation system is usually poor and workers need to breathe the poisonous smoke generated and withstand the working environment of over 40℃in in summer and minus 10℃in winter without an air conditioner. So it’s getting difficult for factory managers to recruit manual workers. How to balance and solve this dilemma?
KASU KSDT 1812 Hot Iron Template Plush Digital Cutting Machine is specially designed by KASU Laser to solve problems. It retains all the advantages of this hot iron cutting process, yet perfectly solves the high requirements for manual labor. The digital cutter is so easy to operate and it can automatically complete the whole process of feeding and cutting, saving manpower, materials, and time.

Inside the KSDT-1812 Hot Iron Template Plush Digital Cutting Machine — Hot-Cut Production Engineering Highlights
The blocks below show the engineering decisions behind the KSDT-1812 Hot Iron Template Plush Digital Cutting Machine — each illustrates one specific heat-control component, transport mechanism, or production advantage that defines hot-cut performance. Topic-by-topic below: High Precision Corrective Active Feeding System, Smart Hot Iron Template Fixing Device, and Integrated Design Especially for Plush Industry.

High Precision Corrective Active Feeding System
An important reason why KASU’s Hot Iron Template Plush Digital Cutting Machine is widely used by the plush toy industry is that it has a high-precision corrective active feeding system designed specifically for the industry.
Unlike the general active feeding system controlled by motors and sensors, the system designed by KASU is like two robotic hands, which can simulate the hand-pulling action of operators. No matter how untidy the fabric rolled edge is, it can quickly pull the fabric to the correct position within 1 second, thus guaranteeing that the whole cutter can continuously feed and continuously cut fabrics without producing any waste.
Smart Hot Iron Template Fixing Device
The hot iron template fixing device of this cutter machine has gone through several rounds of design improvement and finally formed the current version of this clever design.
The head is made of a high-strength galvanized iron plate that can be lifted and lowered. Four copper sleeves with several strong magnets are fixed to the hot iron template, and then the ironing template is fixed to the iron plate by strong magnets and moves up and down with the head.
In the middle, if you want to repair the ironing template, the template can be removed with a little force. After repair, it can be put back into the head to continue to cut without any error. You don’t need to adjust any parameters to make sure the repaired template stays in its original position.

Integrated Design Especially for Plush Industry
KASU’s Hot Iron Template Plush Digital Cutting Machine is based on a PLC control system, no computer is needed, and specially designed for the plush industry.
It supports up to 1200*1200mm sized iron templates of various kinds of plush toy shapes and designs. It integrates the automatic voltage regulating device so that the worker can easily adjust the temperature of the ironing templates according to different thickness plush fabrics and different sizes of the ironing templates.
An alarm system is designed to respond to sudden short-circuit situation that occurs during the actual cutting operation.
The whole machine is designed to be super easy to use. Only a few parameters of the iron templates need to be measured and imputed into the control panel and then the cutter can start working. Generally, non-professional workers only need to learn half a day to be able to skilled operations.

Frequently Asked Questions About the KSDT-1812 Hot Iron Template Cutter
What is a 'template' hot iron cutter, and how is the KSDT-1812 different from the SY2 vision variant?
The ‘template’ KSDT-1812 is the entry-level hot iron in this series â it cuts to a pre-loaded digital template file (DXF / AI / PLT), without the vision camera that the SY2 variant adds for printed-pattern alignment. Best for shops cutting blank (un-printed) plush fabric, non-woven, or felt â where the cut shape is always the same and no per-piece alignment is needed. Lower price than SY2 since no camera + lighting hardware.
Which plush toy and digital-pattern production workflows fit the KSDT-1812?
Highest-volume use cases: Chinese plush-toy factories in Yangzhou and Yiwu producing standard teddy-bear shapes from blank plush rolls; Indian and Bangladeshi soft-toy OEMs supplying European discount-store chains; Vietnamese cushion / pillow manufacturers cutting felt linings; and Mexican school-mascot uniform shops cutting felt costume panels. Common signal: large daily batches of identical shapes, no per-piece printing.
What digital file formats does the KSDT-1812 software accept?
- DXF â from AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Rhino, etc.
- AI / EPS â Adobe Illustrator
- PLT â legacy plotter format
- SVG â vector graphics
- HPGL â plotter command language
Imports are direct (no conversion step). Layer-color mapping in DXF/AI maps to different cut depths / heat settings â useful when one file has both cut and score lines.
What's the typical sheet-loading vs continuous-roll workflow on the KSDT-1812?
Two operating modes:
- Sheet mode: operator places pre-cut plush sheets (typically 1.8 Ã 1.2 m max) on the bed â cut â unload cut pieces â reload next sheet. Cycle: 3-5 minutes per sheet.
- Roll mode: 1.8 m wide plush roll feeds continuously from an unwind reel â index â cut â index â cut â take-up reel collects cut sheet. Cycle: ~90 seconds per indexed section. Roll mode adds 15-20% throughput on long production runs.
What's the noise and heat profile of the KSDT-1812 in a factory environment?
The hot iron itself doesn’t smoke (no laser-vaporization off-gassing) â much cleaner workshop air than a CO2 laser on the same plush material. Noise: ~58-62 dB at 1 m (gantry motion + cooling fan). Heat: the hot iron tip runs at 200-400 °C â local IR heat at the cutting line, but no ambient room heating. Operators wear thermal gloves only for material handling near the tip â no respiratory PPE required (unlike laser plush cutting).
